What Jimmy Kimmel Learned While in Austin & Other Shit You May Have Missed During SXSW

SXSW definitely jumped the shark this year, but that’s another post. In the meantime, here’s what you may have missed while you were on Spring Break (if you were crazy enough to leave).

Jimmy Kimmel came to town and toured UT with Guillermo

Which means a lot of celebs threw up the Horns!

And, the Longhorn Band performed with Aloe Blacc

Big Bertha even made an appearance

Snoop Dogg thought Austin was dope

(probably in more ways than one)

The Biebs even performed at Banger’s

And we actually let him shoot some hoops

Oh, and Pi was written in the sky

Here’s hoping your Spring Break was fun.

Welcome back. Hook ’em!

Jimmy Kimmel & Guillermo toured UT-Austin

Jimmy & Guillermo (don’t mind the subtle racism of this relationship) visited toured our beloved 40 Acres this past week during SXSW.

While there, they ran into Dr. Junker (a lecturer in Advertising/PR), DJ Scott from KVRX, and the ladies of Alpha Epsilon Phi…and even made a pit stop at the Hole in the Wall.

Enjoy.

Austin Sucks, Don’t Move Here [Infographic]

Austin-based blogger Etsy-ist Kammie Russel created this infographic that you can pass along to those passive-aggressive hipster friends of yours in Portland.

Just tell them you hear Dallas is cool.

Why Cedar Fever Sucks Almost As Much As OU

It comes around every January to Austin, Texas. If you’re brand new here, you probably don’t know what it is. It usually take 2-3 years before you catch it…and it ain’t fun.

Below is a pic that looks like smoke, but it’s actually Cedar pollen flyin’ through the air in the Green Belt.

It’s called Cedar Fever and yes, it’s that bad.

For one, it’ll turn you into a monster.

Your eyes will tear up so bad in the middle of the day…people will think you were this kid from OU.

It’s so bad, people will think you were high…

Or, think you’ve turned into some sort of zombie…

Or, that you’ve just broken up with your boyfriend/girlfriend…

And yes, it’ll make you feel as if someone just punched you in the face…

And, just kept on punching you all. day. long.

To the point where you won’t even remember your own name…

But, don’t worry. Because it’ll be over soon and you’ll remember one thing.

OU STILL SUCKS!

Check Out Coach Charlie Strong’s First Day in Austin [PHOTOS]

Coach Strong will have his first press conference tomorrow at 11AM on TexasSports.com.

I’m excited and my family is excited to have the chance to lead one of the premier football programs in the country. Texas is one of those places that is always on your radar and a program anyone would dream of being a part of because you have a chance to compete on a national level every year. It’s special because it has such great history, pride, tradition and passion for football.

To follow a future Hall of Fame coach like Mack Brown, who built a program that had great success and a reputation of doing it with class and integrity, is extra special. The National Championship, BCS Bowl wins and all he accomplished in 16 years built on the Longhorn legacy and makes it such an exciting place to be.

Austin Named One of America’s “Drunkest” Cities

Perhaps we’re spending too much time on“Dirty” Sixth Street.

Austin has been ranked as one of the drunkest cities in America, according to Men’s Health Magazine, which ranked 100 American cities on a top-to-bottom scale from “Stone-cold sober” to “Over the limit”. Austin was ranked 93rd, which in this case means that it is the seventh most-drunk city in America.
